

Arasimo Charles Borrello, Sr., passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the age of 80. Charles was born in New Orleans to the late Peter P. and Cologera "Lily" Borrello. He was the loving father of Peter C. Borrello, Jane M. Borrello, Robert C. Borrello (Ann), the late Arasimo Charles Borrello, Jr., and Jodi C. Borrello; brother of the late Joseph A. Borrello, the late Vincent P. Borrello (Beverly), and survived by his youngest brother, Peter P. Borrello (Sylvanie); loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Jessie Ourso Borrello. Charles and Jessie raised five children together. The most important thing to Charles was the love of his family.
Charles was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and served the city, which he loved, in many capacities. Charles served his country in the United States Naval Reserves. He was a freelance and official court reporter dating back to 1959. Initially, he formed Allied Court Reporters and subsequently, in 1978, along with his brothers, Vincent and Peter, founded Borrello Court Reporters. Beginning in 1972, Charles was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives and served on the Orleans Levee Board and the Louisiana Superdome Commission. Charles worked for many years in Civil District Court in New Orleans, eventually retiring from Criminal District Court in 2016 where he served as the court reporter for Judge Frank Marullo. Charles was instrumental in promoting many court-reporting related causes in Louisiana. He was a mentor to many and friend to all. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services held in the chapel at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael Special School in New Orleans.
