Audie was preceded in death by his parents, Audie Cross, Sr. and Patricia S. Cross, and his sister, Harriet Cross. He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Kimberly Cross; daughter, Madison Ascuitto (Michael); sons, Travis Cross (Morgan), Sean Cross (Melissa), and Zachary Marullo; grandchildren, Dawson Cross, Noah Cross, Grace Cross, and Nolan Cross; uncle, Robert Sturm; niece, Jolie Anna Meyers; and former spouse, Nancy Cross.
Audie was born in New Orleans on March 15, 1957. He enjoyed a long career as a swimming pool contractor, and was a member of The Jesters and Eagle Scouts.
Audie was a creative problem solver, and enjoyed helping people in any way that he could, whether it be his friends, his family, or someone he just met. He prided himself on the love he had for his family, friends, and customers, and the enjoyment he got from his work at his company, A.C. Cross, Inc. He was an incredible husband and father and loved his family with all his heart. He rarely referred to his wife by her name, preferring to affectionately call her “Babycakes.” Among his many adventures, one of his favorites was campouts at the family farm complete with great food, even better company, loud music (preferably Van Morrison), and firmly believed that no campout was complete without a bon fire the size of a skyscraper. At the end of the day, you could find him on the couch surrounded by his border collies watching old timey westerns with cowboy boots to match. All in all, Audie was the life of the party and everyone who knew him and loved him, knew it; and that’s how he will be remembered. Audie will ultimately rest at Honeysuckle Farms, his true happy place.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Ascuitto, Audie’s son-in-law (for helping us to understand and cope), the entire ICU staff, and his incredible surgeon at University Medical Center. They were helpful beyond words.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at John Calvin Fellowship Hall, 4201 Transcontinental Dr. in Metairie, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Audie’s honor to West Tennessee Border Collie Rescue, www.bordercollierescuewesttn.org; BCSAVE Border Collie Rescue, www.bcsave.org; or to Alaqua Animal Refuge, www.alaqua.org.
