Barbara Schaefer Munch

Barbara Schaefer Munch, a native of New Orleans, La. and resident of Dutchtown, La. passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the age of 70. Beloved wife of Rick Munch for 49 years. Daughter of the late Frederick Frank Schaefer Sr. and Helen Marasco Schaefer. Loving mother of Heidi Munch Drez and Ricky Munch. Sister of Fred F. Schaefer Jr. Adoring grandmother of Emily Drez, Nicholas Drez and Kristin Munch. Also survived by her aunts Sister Virginia Marasco RSM, Virginia Mroczka and Edna Spell.

Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Oncology floor, and also Dr Vincent Cataldo and his staff for the medical care they provided for Barbara.

Her family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of The Carpenter House for the special care and comfort they gave to Barbara and her family.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
