Bernice V Montgomery

Bernice Verret Montgomery beloved daughter of the late August C. Verret and Isabelle Firmin Verret was born in Verret, La. on July 22, 1932. She departed this life on September 7, 2015. Bernice was the manager of the DelaPoste Hotel’s Restaurant for many years and was a member of the Modern Ladies Social & Pleasure Club and later a devoted member of The World Travelers Club. She was a devoted parishioner of Corpus Christi Church until her illness. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Marcus G. Montgomery, her sisters Evelyn, Josephine, Ruby, Julia, Doris, and brothers Alton, Clifford, and John and her god child Khalila, and dear friend Mildred. Bernice leaves two children to cherish precious memories, Giesele Montgomery Farve and Kevin Joseph Montgomery, a Son-in-law David Farve, and Daughter-in-law Deborah Montgomery. “Nanny” also leaves many memories for her grandchildren Danielle, Matthew, Christopher, TraSondra, Christine, Chassidy and her twelve great grandchildren, Christopher Jr, Camille, Jasmine, Sye, Sheynne, Mallory, Sage, Brastin, Davin, Jaylin, Aydin, and Fayvin. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and family will miss her forwardness, love, kindness, humor and especially her colorful words and sayings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
