Betty Dupré Eble, born on November 8, 1926, at Westover Plantation in Port Allen, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday November 22, 2024. The cherished daughter of May Eve Boudreaux and Herbert J. Dupré was one of three daughters and grew up surrounded by her family and a strong sense of community. She devoted her life to caring for her loved ones. She cherished her French heritage- being 87% French- and loved spending summers in the country in Belle Rose with her cousins. She was a gifted seamstress and spent countless hours knitting, quilting, smocking and crocheting. Even her granddaughters’ baby dolls were fully adorned with beautifully smocked dresses.
On July 16, 1948, she married the love of her life, Robert Eble. They built a beautiful life and celebrated a marriage filled with love, commitment, and partnership. Their union, lasting over 75 years, was blessed with four children. They were able to travel together to all 50 states, Europe, and Russia. Betty leaves a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication.
Betty is survived by two of her children, Catherine DiSalvo (Philip) of Harahan, LA, and her three children, Loren Monahan (Michael), Jason, and Nicholas (Stephanie); and her son, Robert, Jr. (Melanie) of Aiken, SC, and their children, Cate, Gerard, Renee Morris (Richard) and Andre (Laura); and son-in-law, Afshin Chamasmany (Arian and Mia).
Betty’s greatest joy was her family and she found no greater joy than doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her nine grandchildren, she lived long enough to enjoy her ten great-grandchildren, Brady, Finn, Michael, Clementine, Sylvie, Asher, Logan, August, Declan and Cora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Iris Schluter Dreelan and Evelyn Nicks; daughter, Donna Chamasmany (Afshin) of Los Angeles, CA; and youngest son, Herbert.
Betty was a force of nature, will be fondly remembered and embodied true selflessness. A life well lived.
Relatives and close friends of the family are all invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm in the parlor. Her immediate family will bury her privately immediately following Mass.
