Beverly Abbott Walsdorf

Beverly, a longtime resident of Harahan, Louisiana, for sixty-nine years, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Beverly was born in LeCeiba, Honduras, on May 23, 1932, to the late Paul Sheldon Abbott Sr. and Elizabeth Bush Abbott. She graduated from Colegio Nuestra Senorsa de Sion, in San Jose, Costa Rica (1945-1950). Upon arriving in New Orleans, she met Jules (Chuck) August Walsdorf, and got married on December 17, 1955. They settled in Harahan and raised their family. Being the beautiful woman, wife, and mother, she raised four children, Jonathan August Walsdorf (Callie), Karl Andrew Walsdorf (Sandra), Roberta Ann Walsdorf (Bill Tompkins), Erica Walsdorf Vandenborre (Chris Sr.)

Beverly's grandchildren are Johanna Walsdorf Morales (Joshua), John Sheldon Walsdorf (Lindsey), Joshua August Walsdorf and Christopher Paul Vandenborre Jr. Surviving great grandchildren are Lannah Michelle Morales and Angelle Renae Morales, Jackson Andrew Walsdorf, Grayson Thomas Walsdorf, & Austin Alton Chauvet. She is also survived by her brother Paul Sheldon Abbott Jr. (Claudine), of Pineville, La.

Preceding in her death, her husband, Jules (Chuck) August Walsdorf, and her sisters, Alice Abbott Roth and Margaret (Hope) Abbott Howard, as well as her granddaughters, Sarah Ann Vandenborre and Torrance Elizabeth Vandenborre.

Beverly worked at Notre Dame Seminary as an administrative assistant and assumed a similar role as a long-time employee at Loyola University City College before retiring in 1994. She loved reading and teaching religion class at St Rita Church as she reached many children over the years. She also adored her animals of all sorts.

The family would like to thank the doctors and numerous caregivers who attended to Beverly over the years along with many others.

A visitation for Beverly will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 followed by a Graveside Service in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum at 12:00 PM.
