

Bonnie Markle Broxson, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 21, 2015 following a long illness. She was born in Dallas TX, grew up in Old Metairie and was a member of the 1955 graduating class of St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Bonnie was a proud alum of Ole Miss, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and also earned a masters degree in education from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. Prior to marriage she was employed by Shell Oil Co. in the human resources department and later in life volunteered at numerous local organizations including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Southern Baptist Hospital and St. Martin’s school. She was a regular parishioner of Christ Church Cathedral and later St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred W. Broxson, her brother Robert D. Markle, and her parents DeLafal Markle Jr. and Lucille Copeland Markle. Bonnie is survived by her son Michael and daughter-in-law Suzanne; three grandchildren: Sydney, Benjamin and Anderson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 2919 St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00AM. Interment will be private.
