Brian Scott Kelt Jr.

Brian Scott Kelt, Jr. concluded his journey of life with us on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was 35 years old. Brian lived a very vibrant life leaving an eternal impression on everyone he encountered. He brought hope and love to his family. He had a kind heart filled with compassion and generosity. He attended Ridgewood Preparatory School from Kindergarten to 1999, when he graduated. He cherished his years as a Golden Eagle and the friendships he made during this time. His friends would describe him as smart, passionate, playful and full of life. There are countless memories of his high school years that resonated with Brian giving him endless joy. He continued his education at The University of New Orleans where he earned his B.A. in Finance. Following school, Brian entered the insurance world becoming a certified insurance adjustor. He later founded his own company, Avak Consulting where he was able to touch the lives of many in need by assisting in catastrophe areas as far away as Long Island during Hurricane Sandy. In 2010, Brian fulfilled his lifetime dream and was blessed with the gift of becoming a father. His greatest passion in life was his daughter Ava. He was a proud father who was involved and committed to providing for his daughter in every way. He was a protector, a teacher and a best friend. He served as a pillar of strength, support and unconditional love. If the value of one's life is measured by the number of people who love them, then Brian was a very rich man. He will be profoundly missed and never forgotten by his family and friends. Beloved father of Ava Jean Kelt. Son of Angele Kelt Steece and the late Brian Scott Kelt, Sr. Brother of Chantel S Ratcliff (Brandon) and Derek Schmidt. Grandson of Eugene & Virgil Murphy and Richard Kelt, Sr. and the late Janet M Kelt. He is also survived and loved by many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and services will begin at 12:00pm. Inurnment will be private.
