He is survived by his devoted wife, Esther, and their sons, Travis (Stephanie) and Chad (Candice). Bruce was a proud grandfather to Michaela, Emerson, and Nollie, and a loving step-grandfather to Kayla and Madison Champagne. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert (Dawn), Brent (Carrie), and Brian (Kathy); his brother-in-law, Lido Schaubhut; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gloria Cerny, and his sister, Jean Schaubhut.
Bruce had a passion for traveling and, alongside Esther, visited all 50 states, often stopping to explore state and national parks. He delighted in watching his grandchildren’s activities, especially Emerson and Nollie’s sports, and loved giving them rides on his motorcycle. He treasured every moment spent with his older grandchildren as well.
A true outdoorsman, Bruce found peace and joy in nature. He fished whenever he could and enjoyed capturing the beauty of plants and wildlife through photography.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service honoring Bruce’s life on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
