

Carl J. Eberts, Sr. entered peacefully into eternal life on February 3, 2016, at the age of 81. The son of the late Gerard Eberts, Sr. and Evelyn Martin Eberts. He was the beloved husband of Betty Barilleau Eberts. He is survived by his son Carl J. Eberts, Jr. (Donna), daughters Gwendolyn E. Markovich (Marko) and Lorraine Eberts. Brother of the late Gerard Eberts, Jr. He is survived by his sister Geraldine E. Trocquet (Walter), brother Elmer Eberts (Camille), four grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends. Born in New Orleans, he resided in Metairie and Mandeville, La. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, he co-founded and was CEO of Century Printing and Century Graphics Corp. and served on national boards for printing and graphics. He worked closely with Reverend Elmo Romagosa in publishing the National Award Winning Clarion Herald. He was a founder and board member of Century National Bank and was a member of the New Orleans Louisiana Development Corporation which brought Harrahs Casino to New Orleans. He was recognized at Ochsner Hospital as a Doctor of Philanthropy for his generous support. He was an avid worldwide big game hunter. He was an entrepreneur with varied business interests. He enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He was a parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace. A man of Manresa, his devotion to prayer remained throughout his life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m.. Interment following at All Saints Mausoleum at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request masses to be celebrated for the repose of his soul.
