

Carlos was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Maria A. Palma; and his parents, Carlos Palma Córdova and Angela Ramirez Huezo.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla Maria Palma Pittari (Bart); his brother, Pedro A. Palma (Mary Ann); and his brother-in-law, Cesar Otilio Rivera (Olalla).
Carlos was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on March 26, 1940. He proudly served in the U. S. Army National Guard, where he was a Chief Warrant Officer. He was active during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. He worked as an electrical engineer and was a notary public.
Carlos was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, and the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed playing soccer, dancing, grilling, praying, helping others, military history, foreign languages, travel, and loved to eat bananas.
Carlos was active in the Catholic Church, and held a great devotion to St. Jude. He prayed the rosary every day.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the New Orleans VA Medical Center, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Carlos and his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
