

Carolyn was born on January 8, 1937 in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1954, Carolyn shortly thereafter married and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she enjoyed successful careers at both Tulane University and The New Orleans Convention Center in Facilities Management. After retirement in 2002, she and her husband, Tom York, enjoyed more traveling, as well as watching their grand and great grandchildren participate in various sporting events. Carolyn was also an avid bridge player and could be found on most days at the Bridge Club in Metairie.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Addie Giamalva; her sister, Maxine James; and brother, Sam Giamalva.
Her surviving relatives include her husband of 43 years, Thomas York; son, Frank Loria (Annette); daughter, Laura Miller; son, Paul Loria (Colleen); and daughter, Michelle Haefele (Ted). She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Loria (Whitney), Glenn Miller, Jr. (Veronica), Paul C. Loria (Gwendolyn), Abigail Loria Ebeyer (Samuel), Bailey Loria Exsterstein (Cody), Ashton Loria (Baylinn, engaged), Evan Loria, Lauren Haefele, and Luke Haefele. Her great grandchildren are, Glenn Miller III, Nathan Loria, Micah Loria, Jude Loria, Camille Loria, Titus Ebeyer, Amos Loria, Gioia Ebeyer, Reid Loria, Jackson Loria, Zeke Loria, Phinehas Ebeyer, Isabel Loria, and Beckett Exsterstein.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services to celebrate Carolyn's life at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12 PM with a Christian chapel service following at 1 PM. Carolyn's son, Pastor Frank Loria, will be officiating. Carolyn's body will be laid to rest in Metairie Cemetery immediately after the chapel services have concluded.
