He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A long time resident of New Orleans and Retired Captain of the New Orleans Fire Department where he was considered a hero among heroes. He was devoted to protecting and serving the community without hesitation of putting his life on the line. He was also devoted to teaching and training the next generation of firefighters to become the protectors and rescuers every city needs. He never hesitated when the bell was rung and was often ahead of the bell. HE WAS A FIREMAN. He was a proud and honorable serviceman in the U. S. Army. His passion for life exceeded most and collecting friends worldwide was his hobby. He would travel far and long to just have a beer and let you know you are his friend. Once a friend, always a friend. Fishing, baseball and woodworking were his favorite pastimes. There was always an occasion to celebrate with family and friends no matter how big or how small. He was always there with a helping hand for family and friends and went beyond to provide whatever was needed. He was a true gentleman which is a rare trait in this day and age. He will be truly missed and the void in our hearts will never be filled.
