Claire Flores Tribou was freed of the confines of senile dementia on the evening of September 29, 2017, at the age of 93. She now can remember all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by name. She can remember all of the wonderful times she shared and the close friendships she nurtured over her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Tillman R. Tribou; her parents John A. Flores and Elizabeth Jennings Flores; her brothers William Flores and John R. Flores; and her sister Anna June Porche. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Staub; three children, Deborah Buchler (spouse Peter R. Buchler), Susan Hankel (spouse the late Alan J. Hankel) and Dr. Arthur G. Tribou (spouse Jeanne F. Tribou). Claire had nine grandchildren: Suzette Vernaci, Kelly Johnson, Alex Hankel, Katherine Stavinoha, Blake Tribou, Andrew Hankel, Neil Tribou, Dean Tribou, and Joanne Tribou. She was also blessed and overjoyed with six great grandchildren, Madison and Peter Vernaci, Molly and Hayes Stavinoha and Winston and Tillman Johnson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in New Orleans and only Katrina took her away from the city she loved for a few short months. She was a graduate of The Academy of the Holy Angels and frequently enjoyed reunions with classmates. In her youth she worked for Celotex as an executive secretary, and was an active participant with the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed horse racing, LSU, Tulane, and talking to long time friend Beverly Porche.
