Claudia Filiberto Mackie

Claudia Filiberto Mackie passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the age of 72. She was the beloved partner in life of 24 years, James Christie Long, Jr., and the former wife of Henry Rivet Mackie; loving mother of Jennifer Elizabeth Mackie, and the late Henry Rivet Mackie, Jr.; grandmother of Emily Elizabeth Mackie (Raymond Oller); sister of Guy Roger Filiberto (Faye Bethancourt Filiberto); daughter of the late Guy Roger Filiberto and Olga Marie McConnell Filiberto; and a host of nieces and nephews. Claudia is also survived by her partner’s (James) children, Randy Freeman (Melissa Stoufflet), Warren Long (Marife), Yvonne Long, and Denise Long; grandchildren, Brandon Songy and Elliana Long.

Claudia was born and raised in New Orleans, and graduated from Cabrini High School. After high school, she began her career teaching guitar at Filiberto Guitar Studio on Saint Charles Ave. and also the former World of Strings in Lakeview.

Claudia loved and adored animals. She enjoyed watching movies, and loved baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM. Interment will be private and take place at a later date.
