

Congetter “Connie” VanderHaeghen passed away on Sunday, December, 17, 2023 at the age of 90. She was a native of Independence, LA and resident of Hammond. Connie was an amazing cook, always making plentiful dishes for every holiday. She is known for her wonderful specialty cakes and famous mini pecan pies. Connie loved spending time at home with her many animals. She called them her “Furry Babies”. She loved to ballroom dance and competed professionally. She had many close friends and enjoyed spending time with them especially on each other’s birthdays. Connie was a woman of very strong faith, never missing a Sunday Mass. She loved her family with all her heart and was always kind and giving. Connie is survived by her niece, Jan Zambito (Joe); niece, Fran Budzinski (Tom); nephew, Mark Leto (Gwen); nephew, Bruce Anzalone (Karin); niece, Elise Anzalone; sister in law, Nancy Anzalone; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, William VanderHaeghen; her parents, Tony I. Anzalone and Jennie Catalano Anzalone; her sisters, Rosalie Leto; brother in law Arthur Leto; brothers, Ignatius Anzalone; Frank Anzalone; and niece and nephew, Debbie Anzalone and Arthur Anzalone. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am. Brief prayers in the parlor will begin at 11:00am and a graveside service will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
