Craig Michael Giamalva died unexpectedly from a heart attack on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the age of 58. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Phyllis Guidry Giamalva; children, Antoinette, Nicolo (Moira Knott), and Gabriela (Nathan Coleman); mother, JoAnn Meyer Giamalva, and sister, Joey Lynn Giamalva Kurtz. He has joined his father, Lawrence Giamalva, in heaven.
Craig was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where he went to St. John Vianney Preparatory School (class of 1980). It was there that he cultivated his drive for success. After graduation, he attended Devry Institute of Technology in Texas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (class of 1984). Upon graduating, he dedicated himself to a career as a Systems Support Manager at Raytheon Technologies. Those who knew him clearly saw the passion and pride he put into his work during the 36 years he worked there. He was recognized in his company by receiving a Raytheon Six Sigma Expert certification, an accomplishment he was extremely proud of. Craig was strongly grounded in his Christian faith. He was both a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Flowood, Mississippi and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His family meant the world to him; for them he cultivated an environment of unconditional love, support, and devotion. He always worked hard to give them everything they needed. He loved his wife with his whole heart. Their relationship was the epitome of what their children would strive to mirror in their own lives. His honorable behavior, positive mental attitude, and vibrant personality will live on in their hearts.
A private graveside service will be performed. We ask that those who wish to express their condolences do so online at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home obituaries at www.lakelawnmetairie.com. A Celebration of Life will be planned for family, friends, and colleagues once the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have been lifted.
