

Daniel John Dembinski, 77, of Metairie, LA passed away on February 23rd, 2024, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. Daniel was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Victor and Louise Dembinski in 1946. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Garin Dembinski of 55 years and his children Stephanie Dembinski Ansardi, husband Christopher and Julie Dembinski Meyers, husband Stephen and by his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Colin Tregre, Paige Meyers, Stone Meyers, and Joseph Ansardi. He was a loving father and a true family man. Dan’s pride and joy are his children and grandchildren. Dan is proceeded in death by his four siblings Joe, Leon, Helen, Bill, his parents, his in-laws Harold and Jeannette Garin, and brother-in-law Robert Mayfield.
Dan’s strong work ethic started at a young age delivering the daily newspaper, sometimes pulling a sled through the snow. Dan graduated from Saint Patrick's High School in Chicago and moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University on a football scholarship. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in business administration. Upon graduation from college, he went to work for Shell Oil, New York Life Insurance Company, and City Wholesale Liquor Company. In his 46 years as a dedicated and devoted employee, he climbed the ranks to President of CWL, Co. In his spare time, Dan was a college professor and a Certified Public Accountant.
Dan was a parishioner of Saint Edward the Confessor Church for 54 years where he served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector and member of the Parish Council. He received the Eddy Award and the Saint Louis Award for his service.
In his spare time, Dan was a college professor and a Certified Public Accountant. What started out as a hobby of being a referee with the recreation department became one of his greatest accomplishments. He joined the Greater New Orleans Football Officials Association where he officiated high school football and basketball. He then moved to the next level with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) as Head Linesman for 16 years and finished his career in the replay booth for an additional 7 years. During his tenure, he officiated the first SEC Championship football game in 1992, was recognized as Man of the Year and received the Ed Dudley Award.
A tremendous and heartfelt thanks to Christina with Hospice Specialists of Louisiana and his exceptional caretakers Terri, Valencia, Andria, Casey, Jamie, and Deacon Dave Warner for providing a peaceful and compassionate environment during his transition from this life to the next.
On Tuesday, March 5th family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 11:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 PM at Lake Lawn Funeral Metairie Home officiated by Father Chris de Lerno, Jr. and Deacon Dave Warner. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Children’s Hospital.
