Daniel Albert DeVun

Daniel Albert DeVun passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen Fichter DeVun. Son of the late Paul Denis DeVun and Ann M. Camos. Father of Dana DeVun Areaux (Ray) and Daniel A. DeVun, Jr. (Kim). Grandfather of Raymond Gerard Areaux, Jr. (Heidi), Whitney DeVun Frisard (Nick), Daniel A. DeVun, III, Rebecca DeVun Areaux, and Patrick Thomas DeVun. Great grandfather of Eleanore Charlotte Areaux and Adelaide Marie Areaux. Brother of the late Paul, Esmond, Leonard, Leland, Denis, Paulanna, and Bobby. He is also survived by his many close nieces and nephews. Mr. DeVun was a proud paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Vice President of Whitney National Bank and a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. He was a past President of the Jesuit High School Parent Club and was also an active supporter of the St. Catherine of Sienna Church and School Community. Dan especially loved spending time with his family and dancing with his many friends who affectionately called him "Dancing Dan". He shared his love of life with everyone he met. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
