

Darrell Francis Elliot, loving husband and father, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 after a brief illness. He was 62 years old. Born in New Orleans on February 3, 1953, Darrell was raised in Jefferson and resided in LaPlace and Metairie.
Darrell attended St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School, Archbishop Rummel High School, and graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Darrell was a technical service manager at Buzzi Unicem USA, where he was the liaison to the DOTD. From 1981-1997, Darrell worked for Master Builders/BASF as a Senior Account Representative.
Darrell was a member of the American Concrete Association International (ACI) and the past president of Louisiana ACI, where he received the Distinguished Member and Chapter Activities Awards. He was a Board Member of the Concrete and Aggregates Association of Louisiana (CAAL), where he served on the Technical Services Committee. As liaison to the DOTD, he was instrumental in creating and implementing new specifications and standards for the state of Louisiana. Darrell was passionate and influential in his professional organizations: ACI, ASTM, and CAAL. He was an avid hunter and a member of Ducks Unlimited and Friends of the NRA. He enjoyed travel and was most recently enjoying ballroom dancing with his wife, Carole.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Norval F. Elliot and Shirley B. Elliot of New Orleans, and his brother George Robert Elliot.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carole Ann Caronna Elliot, his son Alex Christopher Elliot, and his daughter Ashley Elliot Galarneau (David). He is also survived by his brothers Norval F. Elliot, Jr. (Alberta) and Kieth J. Elliot (Rhonda); his sisters Karen Elliot Meche (Harris) and Shirley “Missy” Elliot Pecoraro; his mother-in-law Carole V. Caronna; his sisters-in-law Alice Elliot, Vicki Caronna Thiel (Stephen), Caren Caronna Favaloro (Jay), and Angela Caronna Graves (John Paul); and his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Tuesday, April 7th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, April 8th from 9 – 11 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans.) There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 8th at 12 noon at St. Agnes Catholic Church (3310 Jefferson Hwy.) where Darrell was baptized, received the sacrament of Reconciliation, received his First Holy Communion, was Confirmed, and was united in Holy Matrimony.
