A lifelong New Orleanian with deep roots in the community, he cared greatly about his city. He served as a board member for WYES Educational TV, Louise S. He also dedicated his time and energy to councils and advisory positions for Lawrenceville School, Tulane University, The Chamber, New Orleans, and as President of the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra (now LPO). Mr. Favrot was an Elder of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sybil Muths Favrot; sons Stephen Reeves Favrot (Jeanne) of Birmingham and Clifford Freret Favrot (Beth) of New Orleans; daughter Margaret Favrot Cross (Morgan), also of Birmingham. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Elise Freret Favrot, Stephen Reeves Favrot, Jr., Clifford Freret Favrot, Jr., Michael Bradford Favrot, David Blair Favrot II, Robert Stone Favrot, Malise Dornier Favrot, Everett Simons Cross, and Blair Favrot Cross. Blair also leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Favrot was preceded in death by his son David Blair Favrot, Jr. (Joy), parents Clifford Freret Favrot and Agnes Marsh Guthrie Favrot, and brothers C. Allen Favrot, Clifford Freret Favrot, Jr. and Thomas Blackburn Favrot.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles C. Smith for his attentive care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1545 State Street, New Orleans 70118 or Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, 2533 Columbus Street, New Orleans 70119 or Second Harvest Food Bank, 700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans 70123.

An intimate family service will be held next week. A memorial will be held in the Spring if conditions permit.
