David Wayne Spako

DAVID WAYNE SPAKO, age 64, of River Ridge, LA, entered eternal rest on March 13, 2021, reuniting with the love of his life, Laurie Wild Spako. He passed peacefully surrounded by friends and family in the comfort of his home. He was born in Norfolk, VA on February 26, 1957 to his late mother and father, David (Duck) & Edna Mae Spako. He is survived by his sons, Evan David Spako & Andrew William Spako (Molly); and his grandchildren, Audrey Ann Spako & Charlotte Louise Spako. He is also survived by his siblings, Karen Russo (CJ), Kerry Spako, Dale Spako (Debbie); his sister-in-law, Susan Sentilles (Mel), Debbie Wild, and Janet Farrar as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several lifelong friends that he considered as his family.

David grew up in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School. He attended Tulane University graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. He was an avid alumnus of both Rummel and Tulane. In 1979, he married Laurie and they had two sons, raising them in River Ridge, LA. He took great pride in being an engineer and spent most of his career at Keystone Engineering. Anyone who met David, knew his generous heart, which often made him their first phone call for advice, repairing just about anything, or a listening ear. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time on the water fishing, making memories at their camp, and sailing. His most prized role was being POPS to his two grandchildren, Audrey Ann and Charlotte Louise.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Matthew the Apostle Church 10021 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge, LA from 11am-12:15pm with a eulogy to follow and mass to begin at 12:30pm on Monday, March 22, 2021. An interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA.
