Also survived by grandson Sebastian Sarraf, nieces Natalie Davis (Anthony), Beth Austin (Geoff), nephews Max Benjamin (Ally), Hatha Bramson-Callis (Heather), and cousins Nancy Yoffe Garner and Jeffrey Yoffe (Arlene).
Dean was born in Harrisburg, PA in 1947. He attended high school in Dublin, Ireland. Dean came to New Orleans to attend Tulane where he fell in love with the city and graduated in 1970. He went on to earn a Master’s in Theater at Emerson College and was an occasional actor who’s biggest bit part was in the film Miller’s Crossing.
While we lost a beloved dad, many lost a friend and loved one. Dean has been a guide to many and a glorious gourmet chef to his girls. He never failed to be there for those that were most important to him. There was so much more to him than just dad, though to his children that was his greatest role.
Dean enjoyed a good book or new show, the theater, watching baseball, perfecting a delicious dish, and playing table tennis. He leaves an enormous hole in our hearts.
We invite you all to celebrate his life with a graveside service on Friday, November 8th at 11AM at Gates of Prayer Cemetery: 1411 Joseph St., New Orleans, LA 70115. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans.
