

Deborah Beaird Tullis, who was born in Shreveport Louisiana on January 14, 1941, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love, Thursday evening, April 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Isable Littlejohn Beaird and James Patrick Beaird and her sister Barbara. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Eli Watson Tullis, her daughters Ashbrooke Tullis and Rachael Gambel (Christian) and her 3 grandchildren, Grace, Tullis and Jane Gambel. She is also survived by her siblings J. Pat Beaird, Jr (Kathryn), Nancy Gott, Brooke Beaird (Kathy) and Anne Wilson (Tom) along with numerous nieces and nephews. In marrying Eli she was given the very special gift of his sons; Eli Watson Tullis, Jr. (Taylor), Garner Hugh Tullis (Mary) and Wesley Luther Ferrell Tullis (Sandi). Another 13 grandchildren Eli, III and Liza, Gretchen, Molly, Marilee, Jane and Rachael, Sarah, Anna, Wesley, Mary, Isaac and Daniel and 5 great grandchildren Carson, Cason and Caroline and Cohen and Alden. Very special gifts indeed. Mrs. Tullis attended boarding school at The Hockaday School in Dallas, TX before going on to Smith College where she earned her B.A. in Economics. A career in computer programming brought Deborah to New Orleans where she met and married Eli. She was a Past President of the Louisiana Nature and Science Center as well as being an active member of The Garden Study Club and The Junior League of New Orleans. She also served on the Board of Trustees for the Louise S. McGehee School. Deborah loved her family, friends and traveling with Eli. She was a consummate hostess and you always felt welcome in her presence. Friends and family are invited to Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday morning April 21 at 11:00 for a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Louisiana SPCA or humane society of your choice in her memory. Those that know her know this gift will make her smile.
