She was the devoted and loving wife of Harold Brett, Jr. for 63 years and a deeply cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Diane’s vibrant life, marked by her unwavering devotion to family, community, and tradition, leaves a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.
A lifelong New Orleanian, Diane spent her years in the Lakeview and Metairie areas, building a life that centered around family, hard work, and laughter. Alongside her husband, she co-owned and operated Sandy’s Tuxedo Rental for over five decades, growing the family business with pride and dedication. Through this business, Diane not only nurtured her own family but also created lasting relationships within the community. Diane was a beloved member of several Carnival organizations, including Rhea and the Knights of Jason, and had the honor of being Queen Mom for both her daughters with the Krewe of Endymion..
It was Diane’s role as a mother that defined her greatest legacy. Diane was the epitome of selflessness, always involved in every aspect of her daughters' lives—from being a room mother, Girl Scout leader to organizing school events and volunteering her time. Her home was the gathering place for countless friends, a welcoming haven where all were embraced and cherished. Whether hosting family parties, 70s dance nights with the jukebox spinning in her den, or turning her home into a Haunted House for Halloween, Diane knew how to create memories that would last a lifetime.
Diane was known for her sharp wit, infectious humor, and generous heart. She was the ultimate supporter—always present at her grandchildren’s cheerleading competitions, diving events, and sports games. She cheered loudly for the teams at St. Catherine of Siena, Brother Martin High School, Lafreniere Soccer, and LSU, where her presence was as much a part of the sidelines as the games themselves.
Her larger-than-life personality and zest for life made her a beloved figure everywhere she went. Diane’s legacy is one of profound love, selflessness, and joy. She made every moment count and brought light and laughter to everyone around her. Her impact on those who knew her will never fade. Diane taught us all the true meaning of family, loyalty, and the importance of creating a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
