Dixie Phillips Kennedy Trower

Dixie was an active member of Fellowship Bible Church. She was in the Stonecroft Ministries as a chairman, bible study leader, mentor, and a prayer leader. She enjoyed gardening, walks with her dear friend, Millie Chenevert, supporting her husband, Kevin’s, coaching career and women’s bible studies. She and Kevin especially enjoyed going out to eat together.

She retired after 25 years as a secretary in the United States General Accounting Office.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross F. Phillips and Hazel Casey Phillips; sisters, Jacquelyn DeBedts (Chuck), Margie Rabun (Bill), and Winnie Harvey (Fred); and brother, Ross F. Phillips, Jr.

Dixie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kevin Trower; sons, Billy Kennedy (Mary), David Kennedy (Melanie), and Chris Kennedy (Janet); grandchildren, Will Kennedy, Alexandra “Lexie” Kennedy McHone, Brooks Kennedy, Anna Cate “AC” Kennedy, Dalton Kennedy, Katy Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy, Kelly Kennedy, and Casey Kennedy; and great-grandchild, Kennedy McHone.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hope Darden, Mary Lynn Drude, Renae Barker, Tracy Cordova, and Debbie Kooper, whose long-term care allowed Dixie to remain in her home until the very end. We are forever grateful.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at Hope Mausoleum at a later date.
