Born on December 6, 1944, in New Orleans to the late Clementine Schaub Durr and William Durr, Donald lived a life rooted in service, loyalty, and quiet strength. He proudly served in the Louisiana National Guard and went on to dedicate his career to protecting his community as a firefighter with the New Orleans Fire Department. Donald retired after many years of service and remained a proud member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 632.
In his younger years, Donald found joy in the great outdoors as an avid fisherman and hunter. Though he had no siblings, children, or grandchildren, he built a close-knit circle of friends and extended family who became his lifelong companions.
The family would like to give special thanks to the friends and loved ones who stood by Donald during his final days. Your presence, care, and support meant the world to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, on Wednesday, July 30th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, which is on the same grounds as the funeral home.
He will be remembered with respect, love, and gratitude for a life of quiet dedication.
