Edwin is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cynthia Pigott Eberhardt. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Victoria Rivas Pigott; loving children, Eric Allen Pigott, Lindsey Marie Pigott, and Jessica Pigott Gaudet (Matthew); adoring grandchildren, Brock Matthew Gaudet, Victoria Leigh Gaudet, and Blaire Brie Gaudet; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved.
Edwin was a Jefferson Parish firefighter for 28 years until his retirement as Captain in 2008. During his tenure as a fireman, he received two American Legion Certificates of Commendation for outstanding service to the community through carrying out the duties of a fire fighter in a manner which reflects credit upon all fire department personnel and for dedication to the profession above and beyond the call of duty.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and woodworking. Edwin will be remembered most for his dedication in all his endeavors, his goodwill in helping others, and his sarcastic wit. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service officiated by Father Michael Lamy at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. A graveside service will follow in St. Louis Cemetery #3.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heart of Hospice’s non-profit organization, the Hospice Promise Foundation. All monies collected will be used for the NOLA office.
