Elaine Maniscalco Foley was born July 12, 1935 and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on February 7, 2025 at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Pauline Schlotterer Maniscalco. Elaine is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Earle Jules Foley; her children, Sharon Landry (David), Steve Foley (Karen) and Stuart Foley (Linda); grandchildren, Jonathan Landry, Katherine Landry, Ellie Foley, Charlie Foley, Jordan Foley (Lexie) and Anthony Cruz; great-grandchildren, Elaine Sterling Foley, Claudio Cruz, Cecilia Cruz and Eliana Cruz; siblings, Evelyn Maniscalco LeBlanc (Perry) and Joseph Maniscalco (Priscilla); nieces and nephews, numerous godchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Known as “Mumsy” to her family and “Miss Elaine” to the many children and their families that she took care of over the years, Elaine was a rare individual who was genuinely loved by everyone she knew. She was an amazing cook and loved to have others gather and enjoy her meals, no matter the occasion. Elaine remained close with her Lakeview childhood friends and made many more throughout her entire life. After retirement, she and Earle enjoyed travel and outings, but she managed to make every event special, merely by her presence.
There was no greater joy in Elaine’s life than time spent with her family and friends. She adored her husband, children, and grandchildren and never failed to make each one of them feel unconditionally loved and cherished.
Elaine was a devout Catholic; she and Earle were among the founding parishioners of St. Philip Neri Parish. Elaine was a proud graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy Class of 1953. She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie for the last 64 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Ave., New Orleans, LA, 70124 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA, 70124. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
