

Emanuel Dominic Massa passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024 at the age of 94. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Billie Wayne Hendrix Massa. Proud and devoted father of Ronda M. Berger (Michael), Dominic W. Massa (Christy Gleesing), Kenneth M. Massa (Tabitha Lewis), Emanuel D. Massa, Jr. (Sharon Mitchell), and Uanna M. Housey (Anthony). Proud grandfather to Dr. Erin B. Stein (David), Kristin B. Steimle (Karl), Rebecca M. Massa, Emanuel D. Massa III (Kelly), Erika M. Lucia (Philip), Rachel M. Massa, Wayne H. Housey, Kaylee M. Vickrey (Michael), Nicholas K. Massa, Catherine H. Cieslinski (Bradley), Dominic E. Massa, and Evan M. Massa. Also survived by fourteen loving great-grandchildren, brother, Frank M. Massa (Veronica Pablovich), and sister-in-law, Diane Beatson Massa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Emanuel was preceded in death by his father, Domenico Columbo Massa, his mother, Stella Dazzo Massa, his brother, Joseph Anthony Massa, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Stier Massa. He was the son-in-law of the late Uanna Mantrozos Hendrix and Kenneth Wayne Hendrix.
Emanuel was born February 7, 1930 at Hotel Dieu in New Orleans, grew up in Lakeview, and was a resident of River Ridge for 63 years. He attended Lakeview Elementary School and graduated from Warren Easton High School. Emanuel was a licensed general contractor who began his career at Bernard Lumber Company and a longtime member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60. In the late 1960s, he established Massa Construction Inc., a successful general contracting and real estate development company, and built countless beloved homes and properties for clients, friends, and family throughout his more than 40-year career in real estate.
Emanuel’s lifelong passion was raising exotic fowl. He had a keen sense of humor and a loving heart. Family was most important to him, especially his wife. Emanuel always enjoyed sharing stories of his Italian heritage and visiting at family gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:30 pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
