Emma “Susy” Azucena Abud, a native of Honduras and longtime resident of Metairie, La died January 17, 2017, of natural causes. She was 65. Born in La Ceiba, Honduras, Ms. Abud graduated college in her home country and spent her career working in retail and customer service. She was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, and friend; known for her love of dancing, spending time at the park, shopping, and willingness to help others.
Ms. Abud was extremely proud to have obtained her American citizenship recently, having taken part in an oath ceremony on January 6.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Ingrid Sanchez (Scott); a sister, Brenda Abud; brothers Salvador (Inna) and Nur Abud (Selma); nephews Frank Abud, Leon Abud, Rolando Corzo and Nur Roberto Abud; and niece Emma Abud. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nur Michael Abud and Bertha Lastenia Abud, and her niece, Raquel Abud.
Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 and 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. She will be interred at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
