Erotida " Tila" Castro

Tila is survived by her two children; Raul and Aracely Castro, their children, Maitee Gomez, Sandor Castro, Jonathon Castro, and Melania Roof; Preceding with great grandchildren, George Gomez Jr., Armani Gomez, Arabella Gomez, Liam Roof, Mila Rose Roof, Rachel Montz; and brother Eugenio Santos.

Tila was born in Roque- Matanzas, Cuba on Oct.6, 1922 to Ramona Alvarez and Florentino Santos. Tila, as she was nicknamed by her loving family and friends, was a devoted Mother, wife, grandmother and most recently a great grandmother to six children.

Tila mostly enjoyed preparing traditional Cuban dishes for her loved ones and creating memories with all that surrounded her. She was seen as one of the last living matriarch figures to the family leaving wise and genuine advice to all of us. Her Catholic faith was unparallel and was carried through daily in her prayers. Her travels with her children through out the country created lasting and fond memories with some of her favorites as renewing her wedding vows in the countryside of France and visiting the vineyards throughout Napa Valley. To know her, was to lover her and she will forever leave lasting and ever-loving footprints in each one of our hearts.

A visitation for Erotida will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral mass from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
