

Eva Lannes Probst entered her eternal rest on Monday, February 15, 2016 in Nashville, TN. Born December 14, 1919; she was a lifelong resident of New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina abruptly changed all of that. She was preceded in death by her husband Constant J. “Connie” Probst, Sr., her brother William J. Lannes, Jr. and her sister, Myrtle Lannes Kulmala. She is survived by her sons, Robert J. “Bob” Probst and Constant J. “C.J.” Probst, Jr., daughter-in-law Lyn Gros Probst, grandchildren Steven Robert Probst, Amanda Probst Wilson, great grandchildren Matthew Clay Probst, Kailey and Luke Wilson, and Kayla and Lindsey Maberry. Eva was very giving of her time and energy to loved ones and the New Orleans community. She volunteered in the Mother’s March of Dimes and played a significant role in a petition drive addressed to the Governor Earl K. Long to establish a public university in Orleans Parish resulting in the formation of L.S.U.N.O./U.N.O. She was president of the P.T.A.’s of McDonogh #39, P.A. Capdau Jr. High and John McDonogh Sr. High. She was active in the New Orleans Rose Society and President of the Pontchartrain Garden Club for many years. In her later life, she volunteered in the surgery lounge at the Methodist Hospital in New Orleans East. Eva touched, positively, the lives of many and cherished the city she loved. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
