Evan Matthew Harris departed this life on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the age of 23. He was born on May 25, 1992, in New Orleans and was the beloved son of Dr. Friedrichs “Rick” Harris and Kathleen Stull Harris, and the brother of Emily Christina Harris. Evan attended St. George’s Episcopal School, Holy Rosary Academy, and Bachman Academy.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Friedrichs Harris Sr. and Charles Stull; and his uncle, Ballard Harris. Evan is survived by his loving parents; his sister, Emily; his grandmothers, Sara Eustis Harris and Bonnie Houser Stull; his aunts and uncles, Sara Ann Harris, Nancy Harris, Peggy Harris, Peter Harris (Debbie), Mark Harris, Robert Harris (Sandy), Julie Herbert (Steve), Charlotte Harris, Michael Stull and Karen Larson (Howard); and his cousins, Rachel Harris, Brittany McMillen (Dakota), Lucas Herbert, Jonathan and Matthew Larson. He is also survived by his best friend, Michael Webb, and beloved family friend, Suzanne Dorsey.
Evan had a love for animals, and he found happiness in so many things, whether he was playing video games, listening to music, practicing mixed martial arts, or working out at the gym. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and walking on the levee. Evan had a willingness to help others and volunteered several summers with Beacon of Hope aiding in the post-Katrina recovery effort. Evan was socially outgoing and never hesitated to talk to people, always with a smile on his face. He loved his large extended family, and enjoyed celebrating holidays, vacations, and yearly trips to California with them.
Evan left an impression on everyone he met, and we are all better to have known and loved him. It is impossible to remember everyone who helped Evan, but we would like to thank the many who supported Evan and our family throughout his life.
