Francis A. Faler

Francis A. Faler, a gentle devout catholic, left this world to a life of eternity on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1920 in Bassfield, Mississippi. He studied at St. Joseph Abbey in St. Benedict, Louisiana where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Francis was a man dedicated to the catholic church receiving the “Order of St. Louis” Honor. He was a longtime member of St. Raphael parish serving as Eucharistic Minister and member of the choir. Francis’s deep faith strengthened him to raise a loving family with whom he shared his religious values. Beloved husband for over 65 years to Shirley Boos Faler. Son of the late Martin and Irene Burns Faler. Loving father of Donald (Jan) Faler, Kathleen (Jerry) Meyn, Karen (Ralph) Leopold, Allen (Wendy) Faler, Ann (Mark) Heurtin, and the late Audrey Faler. Brother of the late Rev. Justin Faler, OSB, Johnnie Faler, Thomas Faler and Sarah Cargill. Adoring grandfather of Scott, Chris, Amy, Audrey, Julia, Bradley, Sophie, Daniel, Caroline and Steven. Great grandfather of Molly, Katie, Andrew, Christian, Olivia, Elaina, Henry IV and one on the way. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Rd. Metairie, La. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
