Veteran of the Army National Guard and Member of the Masons.
Frank’s early life started in the St. Thomas housing projects and the Irish channel neighborhood before his family eventually settled in Metairie. Frank used to say he was so poor growing up that for lunch every day he would have “baloney on hand” because they could not afford bread.
He began his career in 1953 at age 18 working at Gus Elfer Flooring Company and then in 1958 at Floor-N-Wall Distributors. Frank opened his own flooring contracting business, Frank P. Royerre and Company in 1963. Starting out in business he used to say all he had “was a face and an ass”. He would go on to build a successful business and venture into real estate investment properties. He was very proud when his 3 sons joined him in the flooring business in the 1980’s and the company name was soon changed to RCC Flooring performing work in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Texas. Frank worked for RCC Flooring for 50 years before retiring in December 2003. He had strong beliefs in God, our country, and family with his values rooted in faith, service, and helping others. He will be forever grateful to our loyal friends, employees, customers, suppliers, and installers. After retirement Frank enjoyed spending time with his wife Rita and their dogs on “the boat” in Lake Pontchartrain, Destin, Florida, and Biloxi Mississippi.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Margaret Royerre and Debby Royerre for their help in planning his care. To Rita’s niece, Dr. Bridget Kerpsack for her guidance. To his great niece Sierra Stewart James for her loving care. To his doctors, Dr. Jayne Gertler, Dr. Diane Rose, Dr. Kendra Harris, Dr. Donovan, the nurses and staff at East Jefferson General hospital, the visiting angels and his hospice care team.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12 PM with a chapel service following at 2 PM. Frank will be laid to rest in All Saints Mausoleum immediately after the chapel service has concluded. Guests are invited to stay for a reception afterwards to take place in the funeral home’s reception room.
