Frederick John “Buddy” Reynolds, Jr. entered into eternal life on Thursday, November 27, 2025. He was born in New Orleans on September 20, 1936, to Frederick J. Sr. and Edith L. Reynolds. Loving husband of Carol d’Aquin Reynolds for almost 73 years. He is survived by his wonderful children, Gary F. Reynolds (Janelle “Susie”), Rickey R. Reynolds (Darleen), and Suzette R. Gerrets (Johnny). He was very proud of his nine grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pawpaw Buddy”, Scott Reynolds (Joe), Stephanie Boh (Brian), Christopher Reynolds (Anne), Michelle Dessauer (Kevin), Jeffrey Reynolds (Kellin), Kate Figley (Justin), Amanda Gerrets (Andrés), Matthew Gerrets and Ashley Gerrets. He was also blessed with fourteen great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Judith R. Egle’ (Davis) and Barbara R. Hebert, as well as his brother-in-law, Arthur F. d’Aquin, Jr. (Deanna). He was known as “Uncle Bud” to Darlene Nevle (Michael), Darryl d’Aquin (Mary), Dennis d’Aquin (Maureen), Robert Egle’, William Egle’, Angelle Lyman (Marc) and Kristen Nelson (Christian).
Buddy loved the outdoors, playing golf, fishing and riding in Endymion for over thirty years. As an avid jogger, he ran in most of the major local races, including a marathon, until he was eighty-one years old and participated in the Senior Olympics. He especially loved working in his garage, driving his 1966 Mustang, and riding his motorcycle and bicycle. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He frequently said, “family is everything”.
He attended Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Mathias, Jesuit, Warren Eastern, Loyola and Tulane. Buddy was a hard worker all of his life, retiring as a draftsman from Shell Oil Company after thirty-seven years and then working part-time with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Marshall Bros. He was also a proud member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and St. Phillip Neri Parish.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
