Frederick Ira Williams III

Frederick Ira Williams III passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born in New Orleans, LA on October 26th, 1935 to his parents the late Philomena Grace Williams and Frederick Ira Williams Jr. along with his brother, Paul M. Williams and deceased sister Grace Williams Voigt. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte and their blended families: Leanne Williams Schaefer (Joel), Michael Williams (Rebecca), Melissa Williams Juarez (Javier), Tommy Raborn and Richard Raborn (Virginia) and his deeply loved five grandchildren, Tyler Raborn (Amanda), Michael Jacob Williams (Rachel), Casey Raborn Boothe (Spencer), Sydney Williams Gruber (Joshua), London Raborn Webb (Garrett), and Arian Juarez, and five great-grandchildren, Ann Brees, Breck, Isla and Hart Raborn, and Adelyne Boothe.

Fred’s legacy of service began in 1957 when he joined the New Orleans Police Department as a patrolman. Over the course of more than five decades, his career was marked by a commitment to integrity, a strong sense of duty and a clear dedication to justice. He rose through the ranks retiring from the NOPD in 1980 as a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division. Fred continued his service with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, retiring in 2008 as Deputy Chief. His leadership and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and those in the community. He remained a committed public servant throughout his career. In addition to his law enforcement duties he also served as head of Security for the New Orleans Saints under the ownerships of John Mecom, Jr. and Tom Benson from 1968-2005.

He was a great colleague, mentor, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to all that loved and respected him and will be dearly missed.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the services January 20, 2025 to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation from 12pm-2pm with service commencing at 2pm.
