Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary Michael Spiess, Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Grace Spiess; and his maternal grandparents, William and Elaine Worthy.
Gary is survived by his mother, Elaine Spiess; his brother, Daniel C. Spiess (Stephanie); his niece, Abigail Grace Spiess; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Gary was born and raised in New Orleans. For many years, he worked as a boiler with Zimmers Seafood in Gentilly, where he was beloved by many customers and made many friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved and adored his niece, Abigail, and enjoyed spending time with her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Celebration Church, 3550 Williams Blvd. in Kenner, Louisiana, on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00AM. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow the memorial service at The Kamp, 2317 Hickory Ave. in Harahan.
