Gaynell Herbert Tanguis

Gaynell Herbert Tanguis, age 84, of Covington, LA passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2024. She was born in New Orleans, LA on July 26, 1939. She is survived by her loving children, son Alex Henry Tanguis, Jr. (Jennifer Dorney); her daughter Geralyn Ann Tanguis Lusher (Keith); her grandchildren Alexys Amber Tanguis, Lindsey Tanguis Necaise (Billy), Lauryn Jenna Tanguis, Tanner Henry Tanguis, Kasey Lynn Lusher, Alli Elizabeth Lusher and Maddie Ann Lusher; her great grandchildren Landen Patrick Necaise, Brelynn Layne Earles and Rylee Addison Pace. As well as numerous relatives and friends.

Gaynell was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Alex Henry Tanguis, Sr.; her parents Warren L. Herbert and Irene Heigle Herbert; her sisters Marie Herbert Kertz and Sylvia Herbert Passauer; and her brother Warren L. Herbert, Jr.

Gaynell graduated from Redemptorist High School, Class of 1957, New Orleans, LA / Our Lady of Holy Cross College, Algiers, LA. She was a Catholic School Teacher from 1966 - 2000 (St. Anthony, Gretna, LA / Christ The King, Terrytown, LA / St. Julien Eymard, Algiers, LA / Immaculate Conception, Marrero, LA.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Staff of Trinity Trace Community Center for their care and support as well as Notre Dame Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00am. Visitation beginning at 9:00am. Interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
