

George A. Farber, Sr. M.D., passed away peacefully December 31, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on January 4, 1934, in Coral Gables, Florida and was a longtime resident of the New Orleans area. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of storytelling, and the warmth he showed to everyone he met. He had a special way of making people feel welcome, and his presence filled any room with laughter.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Rae Graves Farber, parents, Charles R. and Clara Milman Farber, and siblings, Louis A. Farber and Stuart J. Farber. He is survived by his second wife, Maria Rosario Pinto and his children, George A. Farber Jr. (Leah), Michael G. Farber, Jeffrey N. Farber (Laurie), Guy C. Farber (Elizabeth), and Scott Q. Farber (Laura). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Allan, Tim, Veronica, Campbell, Shawn (Erica), Garrett, Brandon (Madeline), Samantha (Dimitri), Nathan, Charles (Yumena), William, Laine (Vincent), Emory, Siena, and Bianca, great-grandchildren, Lilith, Amalia, and Lodan, and his siblings, Robert Farber (Jane) and Sally Farber Holister.
Dr. Farber graduated from St. Petersburg High School and attended University of Florida. He later graduated from Louisiana State University and completed his medical training at LSU Medical School. He also graduated from the School of Aviation Medicine at the Aerospace Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, in September 1960. He served as a clinical professor at Tulane Medical School from 1970-1983. Dr. Farber was a board- certified Dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon, dedicated to his patients and the medical profession. He also proudly served as a team doctor at St. Martin’s Episcopal School.
Dr. Farber honorably served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force (Retired). His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Combat Medal Air Medal with two clusters for service in Vietnam (1966- 1967), and Cuban Expeditionary Medal (1961).
A pioneer and leader in his profession, Dr. Farber’s major credentials and accomplishments include being a co-founder of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery in 1971, the American Association of Cosmetic Surgery in 1974, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 1981. He was also the co-founder, trustee, and past president of American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery (NAACRS) in 1991, and founder of the American Medical Detective. He held the distinguished title of Professor Emeritus.
Family meant everything to George Farber. His love, warmth, and laughter will live on through those who were fortunate to call him family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 12PM – 2PM with a service to begin at 2PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
