

George Elliott Lee, Jr., on Monday, March 17, 2024 passed away. He was 88 years of age. Beloved husband of Antoinette (Annette) C. Oshell Lee for 63 years. Loving father of George Elliott Lee, III, Kevin Michael Lee, and Keith Charles Lee. Father-in-law to Linda Wank, Melissa Ortiz and Christina Taylor. Grandfather to Kaitlin Josephine Lee, Abigail Dolores Lee, and twin girls, Annette Marie Lee and Jennifer Marie Lee. Known lovingly as Pa Pa, whom they adored. Also survived by one sister, Joan Lee Trago; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, George Elliott Lee, Sr. and Johanna Lawrence Lee; sisters, Catherine Hansen Lee, Geraldine Lee Soniat; father-in-law, Charles Oshell; mother-in-law, Josephine Spedale Oshell. Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, George attended T.J. Semmes Elementary School and graduated with honors. He attended Holy Cross High School in New Orleans and received the Doctor Kermit Brau Award for the Senior Athlete with the highest scholastic average. He was awarded with a full scholastic scholarship to St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and an athletic scholarship to Mississippi State. He completed his studies from Loyola University in New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. George served his country in the United States Armed Forces stationed in Nuremburg, Germany at command headquarters with the 2nd Howizer Battalion, 34th Artillery. George was employed with the IBM Corporation for 35 years in administration resources. He began in branch office administration advanced to administration manager and then to senior staff assistant. He received numerous suggestion awards for the IBM S electric typewriter and other corporate improvements. George served in many civic activities. He was Junior Achievement Executive for training Youths of America. He was a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America, along with serving as a Loaned Executive with the United Way of Greater New Orleans. Upon retiring from IBM Corporation, George helped to create and establish a new business adventure by working as a Director of Human Resources for Crescent City Moving and Storage Company for eight years. George was very active in St. Clement of Rome Church. Thanks to the wonderful medical staff at East Jefferson General Hospital for their excellent care and love shown to George. George will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00am until Mass at 12:00pm. Celebrant is Father Jody DiMaggio of St. Clement of Rome. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
