

Gerry was born December 1, 1932 to Francis S. Dobel and Rose O’Hare Dobel. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Stratton, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Rita Dobel Perll and brother-in-law, Dr. Maurice Perll, and brother-in-law, retired Capt. Richard A. Stratton, USN. She is survived by her children, Sean Timothy Stratton and wife Petra of Los Angeles, Erin Dey and husband Donald, of Destrehan, and her grandchildren Donald Dey, Jr., Austin Dey, and Elena Stratton. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Alice Stratton, and Ellen Cooper as well many nieces and nephews.
Gerry grew up in Kansas City, MO, and upon marriage, enjoyed the excitement of living in many cities across the US due to her husband’s work with US Steel then landing in the New Orleans area in 1976 and made New Orleans home.
She attended Maryville College in St. Louis, and graduated from Avila College. She retired at age 70 from Tulane University School of Medicine. She had great devotion to her Catholic faith. In addition to a lifetime of volunteer work including fundraising for political candidates, church activities, and supporting the arts and education where she held many leadership roles, she enjoyed playing bridge with several groups. She also enjoyed many years with her Saturday night friend group playing cards, going to dinner, to movies and to the theater.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Jesuit High School in the small chapel on November 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm with a visitation prior at 1:30 pm. Christian burial following the Mass will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
