

He was preceded in death by his parents, Corinne Hopkins Scoggin and William Hamilton Scoggin, his brother, William H. Scoggin, Jr., and grandson, Lyle William Scoggin.
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Guy was a proud World War II Navy veteran. Upon completion of his military service, Guy attended Tulane University Law School where he graduated in 1951.
Guy was an avid outdoorsman. He sailed in his youth, hunted duck and dove whenever he could, and fished as often as possible, often with his Wednesday fishing group.
He was a member of The Boston Club, Stratford Club and The Recess Club, as well as several Carnival organizations.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Irene Richeson Scoggin; sons, Guy Bruce Scoggin, Jr., David Hopkins Scoggin (Sandra), and Matthew Richeson Scoggin (Darcy); grandchildren, Mia Scoggin Jahncke (Minor), Guy Lanier Scoggin, Stewart Hopkins Scoggin and Philip Edward Scoggin; and nieces, Etheldra Scoggin, Coco Hyman and Elizabeth Dodson.
Guy was a man of great faith in God, a successful and respected attorney for over sixty years, and most importantly, a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
