Hazel May Hill St. Romain

Hazel May Hill St. Romain passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday February 26, 2018. She was 90 years old. She was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and resided in Metairie, LA for most of her life. She was a resident of Metairie Manor for the past 9 years. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She worked at City Wholesale Liquor Company and was the librarian at St. Anthony of Padua School for many years. She was the loving mother of Michelle St. Romain Barone and Monique Nicole St. Romain, grandmother to Molly Alyn Thomas and Dominic Joseph Barone, and godmother to Carroll Neyrey and the late Kevin Connell. In addition to being a mother and grandmother, she was also the beloved “Nanny Nanny” to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Gerard St. Romain, her parents, Hazel Broussard Hill Hogan and William Carroll Hill, her sisters Rosemary Neyrey, Carol Irene Hill, Dorothy Gravel, and Jeanette Connell Lehman, her brothers Stephen Hill and James Hill and her godson Kevin Connell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Saturday, March 17, 2018 for 1:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1pm. Fr. Robert Massett will officiate the Mass. She will be inurned at a later date along with her beloved sister Jeanette Connell Lehman who passed away on February 15, 2018. Family requests any donations in her memory go to Heart of Hospice or ALS Guardian Angels (in honor of her godson Kevin Connell who had ALS).
