Helen "Mickey" Barberot Bernier

Helen Margaret "Mickey" Bernier passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Paul "Mike" Bernier, Sr. for more than 60 years. She was born on November 12, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Myrtle Donnell Barberot and Lawrence E. Barberot. Loving, devoted mother of Kathleen White, Edward Paul Bernier, Jr. (Joan), and Eileen Ducote (Donald). Grandmother of Jessica Parker (Neil), the late Aimee Ducote, Matthew Ducote, Daniel Ducote, Hope Bernier, the late Joshua Ducote, and Jonathan Ducote. Great grandmother of Julian Parker. Sister of the late Jacqueline Rice, Gloria Wilde, Donald Barberot, Malcolm Barberot, Joyce Lunney, Aline Savoye, and Betty Eber.

She was a graduate of John McDonough High School in New Orleans. She worked full time for the New Orleans Museum of Art for over 35 years until age 80. She enjoyed trips to the Mississippi Casinos with her work friends.

She lived in Gentilly for her entire life and rebuilt her home after Hurricane Katrina.

Her family will greatly miss her charismatic personality, comedic wit, and her kindness to everyone.
