

Born in Eunice, Louisiana, January 25, 1921, she is preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Olivia Liggett and her five older siblings, Mildred, Lillian, Grace, Robert and Rose. After residence in Philadelphia and Dema, Mississippi, she moved to New Orleans at age 12. After graduation from John McDonogh High School she attended Loyola University Music School.
Married to the late Clemens P. Haerer; survived by two sons, Philip (Connie) and Kenneth (Jan). Later married the late Albert Harris; grandchildren, Lauren Hatten (Jeffery), Shannon Harvey (Charles), Meghan Nelson (Scott), MacKenzie Morris (Eric) and Kelley Williams (Tony); great grandchildren, Madeline and Britt Hatten, Charles, Logan and Catherine Harvey, Olivia and Chloe Morris, Weston, Meghan, Emelyn and Adelyn Williams, Elise and Clarke Nelson.
Hilda loved music and was a gifted pianist from childhood. She played as organist for many churches including Lutheran Churches Mount Calvary, Our Savior Lutheran, Saint Matthew, First English and Saint John. After Katrina as a resident of Nouveau Marc she entertained the residents during her final twelve years. She served as President of the Accounting Women’s Club, and had membership in The Gold Dust Square Dance Club, and the Newcomer’s Club.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will be held prior to the service and will begin at 9:30 a.m.
