

Howard B. Penton, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, passed away at the age of 89 on March 5, 2022. He was born on June 21, 1932 in New Orleans. He was the owner of Trans Gulf Chemical & Solvents, Trans Gulf Industries, Myriad Industries, Trans Gulf Fuel, Checker & Yellow Taxi Cabs of New Orleans, and Continental Chemical Co. Additionally, he was an airplane pilot and an avid golfer.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Hezzie and Ora Penton; and his brother, Rodney Penton. He is survived by: his wife of 71 years, Mary Ellen; his son, Glenn M. Penton (Mary Lu); his brother, Gerald Penton (Mary Francis); his sister-in-law, Virginia Penton; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Penton, Jennifer Robert (Timothy), and Glenn M. Penton, Jr. (Rachel); and his great-grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, Caleb, and Caroline Robert and Peryn Penton. Howard is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with services immediately following visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. A private inurnment is to take place in All Saints Mausoleum at a later date. Rev. Bob Carvajal will be officiating.
