

Jack Rolland Baggett Sr. passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the age of 80. He was born in Alabama City, Alabama, one of twelve children born to Henry and Berdie Lee (Smith) Baggett. Survived by his brothers: James, Jerry, Jim, and his sisters: Martha, Sherry, Pat, and Peggy. Not to be forgotten are his deceased brothers John, Jan, and sisters Francis, and Annette. A devoted husband to Mary Ann (Ferrara) Baggett for 46 years until her death in July 2001. He was a hard worker, a caring and generous father to his four children: Jack, Mike (deceased), Billy, and Maria. The last seven years he was not alone but lived with family and cared for by his eldest son and daughter-in-law Valarie (primary care giver) and lived to see his eight great grandchildren. He served as a U.S. Marine Corporal during the Korean War. He received numerous awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon Bar, USMC Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Marine Corps Expert Rifle Badge, and an Honorable Discharge. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 8:30-10 AM. Funeral service will begin at 10 AM at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA.
