Born on February 5, 1934, in New Orleans, LA, Jack lived a life marked by deep faith and service to God and family. A committed lifelong Catholic, Jack attended St. Leo the Great Grammar School before becoming a proud alumnus of Jesuit High School. He then attended Louisiana State University, where he was active as the social chairman of Lambda Chi fraternity and also president of the Bronc and Bridle Club. Following his graduation, he remained a lifelong avid LSU fan, sharing his love and passion for LSU sports with his sons and family. His professional life spanned 50 years, 36 of which were dedicated to his integral role as Co-founder, President, and CEO of Scariano Brothers, where he worked unwaveringly hard, leading his cherished family business with diligence and foresight, driven by a desire to provide his family with a better life and more opportunity before his retirement. Jack was also a decades-long member of the Italian American Marching Club. He found profound joy and spiritual nourishment as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Saint Pius X Church, and later ministered the Eucharist to the homebound while a member of Saint Angela Merici Church. In recent years, he also enjoyed his involvement with Legatus and the Contessa Entellina Society, demonstrating an immense pride in his Sicilian heritage.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene, with whom he shared the past six joyous years, cherishing their time together as they aged gracefully and found renewed companionship. He was a loving father to his three sons, Jack Jacob III, Mark Everard, and Craig Thomas. He leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and their loving spouses, along with his fifteen adored great-grandchildren, all blessed by his presence. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Mrs. Jeanann Brousse, George, and John, and their spouses. Jack is joyfully reunited in heaven with his loving wife, Elsie, with whom he shared a life rich in travel, fine dining, and especially, the joyous hosting of large family holidays, always centered on love, gratitude, and prayer. He was also preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jack Sr. (PaPaw) and Marguerite DuVernay, who instilled in him a deep faith; and Llewellyn Marks, his first wife, and the mother of his 3 sons.
Jack often wore blue as a heartfelt tribute to his beloved mother’s (MeMaw) profound devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, a spiritual tribute he carried throughout his life. In celebration of his life and steadfast faith, we prayerfully encourage attendees to wear Jack's favorite color, blue, as a symbol of his devotion.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Dr. Covington, LA.
